Useful information when moving into our homes

Moving home can be both a scary and exciting time! Here is some useful information you should know when you move into one of our homes.

What to expect from your new home

Once a home becomes empty, we make sure it meets  our relet standard as agreed with our tenant repairs and maintenance focus group.  Part of this involves carrying out checks to make sure the home is safe.

If you would like us to send you a printed copy of our relet standard, please call us on 01225 715 715.

In some cases, the property meets the standard in a short period of time. Other properties require extra work so a longer period of time is needed to complete the works before a new tenant can move in.

Affording the move

Moving into a new home is expensive.  You may need carpets, curtains and kitchen white goods.  Many people are tempted to take out loans to pay for these things.  Sometimes doorstep lenders will come to your door if they know you have just moved in to offer you one of their expensive loans.   Read about the different types of loans and which ones are the best to use here.  Also, look below for ways to get cheaper white goods to make your move more affordable.

White goods

If you need to buy low cost white goods, try Refurbiz .  They provide low cost electrical goods for low income and disadvantaged households.  You can also donate your unwanted items to them to refurbish as well!
