Recruiting for a new customer board member

Do you want to make a real difference?

We have a vacancy for a customer board director on the Selwood Housing Group board.

Board members receive a fee of £4,250 per year and the time involved is roughly 10 hours a month. Board members are appointed for three years, subject to successfully completing a probation period.

However, if you are in receipt of benefits this payment may affect them, so you will need to ensure that you are aware of this or seek advice before making an application.

Before deciding if you would like to apply for this role, we will be running two taster sessions which will help you find out more, will show you how our board members contribute to making a difference at Selwood Housing Group and will outline your next steps should you wish to apply.

The taster sessions will be held virtually through Zoom on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 9 March 7-8pm
  • Thursday 11 March 7-8pm

If you would like to book onto one of the taster sessions, please let us know which one, or either, by emailing us at makeadifference@selwoodhousing.com by Friday 5 March and we will send you an invitation.

If you’re unable to attend a session but are still interested in applying for this role, just let us know.

Am I eligible?

Unfortunately, you will not be eligible to apply if you:

  • are a leaseholder
  • have been a Wiltshire Council councillor in the last 4 years
  • are an employee of Wiltshire Council
  • are bankrupt or have made any arrangement or composition with creditors
  • are prohibited by law from being a director
  • are incapable by reason of mental disorder, illness or injury of managing and administering your property and affairs
  • have been convicted of any criminal act or omission (other than a conviction which is spent in accordance with the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974) unless the board determines otherwise
  • are a tenant who is the subject of an order for possession of the property of which you are the tenant
  • have previously been removed as a board director by either a vote of the Selwood Housing board or in a general meeting of the board
