This former pub site has remained vacant for a number of years and Selwood Housing are delighted to have been given the opportunity to invest in the site and help to regenerate the local area.
The site will be developed into a mix of affordable homes, some available for rent and some for purchase through shared ownership, which offers a more affordable way of getting onto the property ladder. Subject to planning, 10 new affordable homes will be built on the site with high-quality design and energy efficiency being at the core of the build.
Selwood Housing will be undertaking a two-stage consultation. The first stage will open on 22 April 2021, where the public will be invited to submit feedback and comments on the plans via the form below. Comments will be responded to and any necessary adjustments to the plans made before the second stage, which will involve submitting a planning application via Wiltshire Council’s Planning Department.

Selwood Housing is a not-for-profit housing association with almost 7,000 homes for rent at affordable prices in Wiltshire, Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset. We also offer shared ownership, and other schemes to provide a wide variety of homes for people living in our communities. Any surpluses we make are invested back into our communities and this includes building more affordable homes locally.
Subject to planning, we intend to offer affordable housing by building ten homes on the site. We hope to have some homes for rent and some homes for shared ownership.
Shared ownership is a great way of buying your own home, without having to find a huge deposit up front. With shared ownership you can buy a share of a home and pay a low rent on the rest. This gives you a great alternative to renting, if you can't afford to buy a home outright.

There is a housing crisis and a shortage of affordable homes in the UK. In the Trowbridge Community area there are currently 518 households in need of a range of affordable rented homes, from one bedroom upwards.
There are also 155 households registered for shared ownership.
The John Bull site development is part of our plan to provide more affordable homes within Wiltshire, Mendip and BANES.
Subject to planning, we will be providing a mixture of 2 and 3 bedroom homes.
