I was born in Manchester but have lived in the South West since childhood, only moving into Wiltshire from Bath in 2017. I am proud to have been an 'at home mum' until my sons were teenagers, before trying my hand at various jobs including proof-reading, retail and chauffeur. I have studied Social Science and Psychology with the Open University and have recently retired from singing in a ladies barbershop chorus in Bristol where I was twice chairwoman, as well as wardrobe manager and section leader. I have previously volunteered with Citizens Advice Bureau and bring my experience from this time and many other life skills to my work with the scrutiny team.
Originally from Preston in Lancashire, I moved to Trowbridge in 2002 and now live within sheltered accommodation in Westbury. I am a football fan and like to support my local team, Westbury United, as well as look after my two very crazy yet lovable dachshunds that keep me on my toes.
I have been involved with Seymour T.A.R.A in the past, which was an eye opening experience. Joining the scrutiny team is a way of getting involved in a team which will enable me to give something back to society.
I was born in Chippenham but moved to Trowbridge when I was about 17.
I have experienced a variety of jobs but have spent more years than I care to remember, in the care industry. At present, I work with young people (16-25) but have worked with the older generation who have wonderful stories to tell. When I had young children I volunteered for Meals on Wheels, which was great fun and encouraged me to work with older people when the children started school.
In my current role, I have completed many training courses and the skills I have learnt, in working with a variety of people, are easily transferable to many situations.
I look forward to being part of the scrutiny team and helping to make a difference for all tenants.
A retired journalist, travel writer, hot air balloonist and adventurer, with four daughters spread over the globe and seven grandchildren (at the last count!) With all of this I'm kept young at heart and active.
I'm hoping that as a member of the scrutiny team, I can give something back to society.
Growing up around Devon and Somerset, I have now been a tenant for Selwood Housing in Frome for just over 12 months. I have worked in various jobs from guiding people around Longleat House to sending people down zip wires and I also volunteer as a Brownie and Guide leader.
Between that and crafting I always have something on the go and it helps keep me smiling! I am looking forward to volunteering at Selwood Housing and seeing how I can best contribute through my role on the scrutiny team.
I have lived in the South West for six years and have been a housing tenant for four of them. Having held down various job roles including HR, Store Management and Customer Services before going onto have my 3 beautiful (biased I know) children. I re-joined the workforce when the youngest, my daughter, began school. I worked then on a self-employed basis and now work part time on a Digital Customer Service team for a Chippenham based company.
I have a love for reading books, cooking and spending as much quality time as I can with my family exploring and making memories. My family mean the world to me.
Being part of the scrutiny team, I hope, will enable me to use my skill sets and give back to the community and make a real difference to the lives of all tenants.
A bit about me, I'm a 63 years young father of two and have one grandchild who I adore. I've been a tenant for 18 months, and live in Bowerhill, Melksham.
I'm a keen photographer and enjoy most forms of music. I have also been involved in volunteer work for The National Trust, in records and archives, and visit their properties when time permits. Being part of the scrutiny team gives me the opportunity to put to use many of the skills I have built up over the years. It's also a way of giving something back to Selwood Housing and their tenants.
I have lived in Bradford on Avon for the last 25 years and in a Selwood property for the last 10 years. I enjoy pottering about with my whippet friend and meeting/talking to people as we are walking around - Mr Whippety enjoys meeting all the generous people with their treats!
I have an interest in environmental and sustainability issues and enjoy a challenge to repair an item to make it functional again. Always plenty to do! I am looking forward to working with the scrutiny team at Selwood.
