Introduction to social housing course

Free Learning Opportunities

Introduction to social housing, level 1

We have eight places available on a level 1 introduction to social housing course run by Phoenix Academy, who are based in East London. This nine-week course will provide you with new learning about social housing and will cover topics such as governance, community engagement and understanding your property.

It will start on 8 February 2022 and end on 5 April 2022. The commitment is 1-2 hours per week and the course is run online. There is no exam but learners are expected to undertake a quiz at the end of each of the 9 learning modules. Passing 6 of the 9 modules means learners achieve their Level 1 qualification and upon completion, you will receive a certificate from the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).

The eight places are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

'We are Selwood' – an invitation

We are planning to run a series of half-day learning sessions weekly throughout May. We haven’t decided on the final content yet, but it will include: introductions to our scrutiny team, trustee board and corporate plan. At this stage, we’re not sure if this course will be in person at our Bryer Ash offices in Trowbridge, online or both. We haven’t decided yet what time the learning sessions will run either.

'We are Selwood' – designing the course

The reason so much is undecided is that we’re looking for customers to work alongside us to co-design the content and structure of our 'We are Selwood' course. This co-design session will take a couple of hours and will take place in February 2022.

These opportunities are completely free and perfect if you would like to get more involved with Selwood Housing.

In Summer and Autumn 2022 we will be recruiting new members to our scrutiny team and two new positions on our board of trustees.

Taking part in these learning courses will help prepare you if you decide to put yourself forward for those opportunities.

We’d love to get you involved.
