If we have given you permission for a lodger, click below to register your interest on the gov website.
If you have a spare room and wish to help refugees leaving Ukraine, you will need to ask Selwood Housing for permission first and then register your interest at the bottom of this page.
For our customers wanting to help with this scheme, there are a couple of things that we will ask you to do.
We will view refugees arriving under this scheme as lodgers. You have the right to have a lodger but will need to get our permission first. Consideration will be given to the size of your home; approval will not be given if it causes over-crowding. Customers in one bedroom and studio apartments will not be able to take in a lodger.
Please note that if you are in receipt of universal credit, housing benefit, or single-person discount for council tax you must let them know.
Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK under the Homes for Ukraine scheme will have the right to live and work in the UK for up to 3 years. They will be able to access healthcare, benefits, employment support, education and English language tuition.
By taking in a lodger, it would be your responsibility to check that they have the right to live and work in the UK.
Please make sure that you read the scheme's FAQs as this sets out expectations and obligations.
To either request permission for a lodger or discuss a request, please contact us on either info@selwoodhousing.com or your neighbourhood manager or sheltered housing co-ordinator on 01225 715 715.
