Selwood housing announces more affordable homes in Trowbridge latest news

Selwood Housing has announced it will be providing new affordable homes for the local community in Trowbridge, as part of the development of the former West Wiltshire District Council offices on Bradley Road.

Newland Homes is constructing 79 new properties on the site which has been derelict since 2009 and will now be known as Newland Place. Selwood Housing has signed contracts for 22 affordable homes: 13 of these will be offered for affordable rent and nine for shared home ownership.

The redevelopment of the brownfield site will create a mixture of properties ranging from one bedroom apartments to four bedroom detached houses, all with on-site parking. The first homes for Selwood Housing are due to be delivered in March next year, with the remainder following throughout 2020.

Paul Walsh, Selwood Housing Group development director said, “As the local housing association in Trowbridge, we're delighted to be able to offer 22 more homes at another great location in the town. Along with our Margaret Stancomb site and a forthcoming development at Hilperton, we will soon have almost another fifty homes available in or around Trowbridge. The properties for social or affordable rent will provide secure low-cost rented housing for those who need it, while the shared ownership properties will bring opportunities for local families to get on to the housing ladder.”

Gail Remnant, Associate Sales Director for Newland Homes, said: “We are proud to bring another quality development to the county town with the launch of our homes at Newland Place. This site had been derelict for a long time, so it's fantastic to see such a hive of activity with the construction and the first phase of releases all sold, with fresh releases now available. We have one of the highest specifications as standard for our houses and we pride ourselves on creating homes which people love to live in.”
