Brandon Humphries, apprentice sales administrator at Selwood Housing Group

Hi, I'm Brandon Humphries, I'm 19 years old and I'm currently studying a Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration with Wiltshire College and University Centre. Since August 2020 I have been working at Selwood Housing Group as the apprentice sales administrator for the development team.

As a sales administrator, I have lots of roles and responsibilities. I manage the sales inbox, answering questions or responding to registrations of interest from customers interested in our shared ownership properties. Each day, I also manage a spreadsheet which records numbers of general and development scheme enquiries, as well as managing records of potential applicants who are interested in upcoming development schemes and customers who have been sent application packs for released homes.

I manage handover paperwork for people moving into their new homes and I'm learning how to use the housing management system, QL, to add new properties and raise work orders. I also collect the gas component data for our new shared ownership properties and I'm often on the phone speaking to customers who have questions or queries which I am always happy to help with.

Before taking on an apprenticeship, I worked as a bartender in a local Marston's pub. My experience at Selwood has been very different from that, but I have really enjoyed learning all about shared ownership and Selwood Housing and meeting all the nice people who work here. My time in this role has also improved my ability to communicate in a more professional manner; a skill that's needed for working in sales.

I enjoy going out to various development sites to see the end result of all our team's hard work. Seeing customers' appreciation when they get the keys to their new home is a really rewarding part of this job.

My favourite thing about working here is the support from my team and the great working relationships we all have with each other, meeting new people and building these working relationships has been brilliant.

When my apprenticeship ends, I hope to be able to be employed at Selwood Housing and start to broaden my knowledge and understanding of the business and become a valued asset to the team.

I feel like I am achieving something new every day and would recommend an apprenticeship like this to anyone who's looking for an office-based role and enjoys helping the local community as it is a very rewarding job!
