I am a great believer of giving back something of yourself.
Back in the early nineties I volunteered for a homeless charity, Action on Homelessness. After a year I was employed and remained there for ten years. Still working to help and support I secured a position in a Women's Refuge and later became a higher level teaching assistant. I had the pleasure of learning with the year sixes in a local primary school for eight years. I constantly bump into the now adult children in their work places and love to see how well they have done for themselves.
Alongside working I fostered three siblings for eight and a half years. My biggest love was riding motorbikes and travelling with my husband in the lorry with our Jack Russell, Indi B.
A bit about me, I'm a 63 years young father of two and have one Grandchild who I adore. I've been a tenant for 18 months, and live in Bowerhill, Melksham.
I'm a keen photographer and enjoy most forms of music. I have also been involved in volunteer work for The National Trust, in records and archives, and visit their properties when time permits. Being part of the Scrutiny team gives me the opportunity to put to use many of the skills I have built up over the years. It's also a way of giving something back to Selwood Housing and their tenants.
I was born in Manchester but have lived in the South West since childhood, only moving into Wiltshire from Bath in 2017. I am proud to have been an 'at home Mum' until my sons were teenagers, before trying my hand at various jobs including proof-reading, retail and chauffeur. I have studied Social Science and Psychology with the Open University and have recently retired from singing in a ladies barbershop chorus in Bristol where I was twice Chairlady, as well as wardrobe manager and section leader. I have previously volunteered with Citizens Advice Bureau and hope to bring some of those and many other life skills to my work with the Scrutiny Team.
A retired journalist, travel writer, hot air balloonist and adventurer, with four daughters spread over the globe and seven grandchildren ( at the last count! ) With all of this I'm kept young at heart and active.
I'm hoping that as a member of the Scrutiny team, I can give something back to society.
I am married with four children and three grandchildren, and own a Parson Jack Russell Terrier called George! I have been a tenant with Selwood Housing Group for four years and have a background in business, having worked in several sectors including property, information technology and business coaching.
I am still working to help Wiltshire businesses grow and enjoy working with people from different walks of life. Joining the scrutiny team has been a great experience and has fulfilled my desire to give something back.
Originally from Preston in Lancashire, I moved to Trowbridge in 2002 and now live within sheltered accommodation in Westbury. I am a football fan and like to support my local team; Westbury United, as well as look after my two very crazy yet loveable dachshunds that keep me on my toes.
I have been involved with Seymour T.A.R.A in the past, which was an eye opening experience. Joining the scrutiny team is a way of getting involved in a team which will enable me to give something back to society.
My first ever job was to get all the wasps out of seaside rock and in the 80s I also volunteered for a disabled association.
I come from a graphics and animation background and am a trained artist; scribbling and writing for the past 40 years.
Being disabled has made me a problem solver and I would like to use the skills I've learnt to help my fellow tenants.
