Support over the Christmas period

Published: 23/12/2025 13:15

We have been focusing on ensuring customers impacted by the fire have everything they need for the Christmas period ahead. Accommodation requirements are in place, and where it has been possible to do so, customers’ belongings have been returned to them. Thank you to Frome Rotary Club for providing customers with supermarket vouchers for the Christmas period. We’ve also been able to share a list of support services with customers kindly provided by Fair Frome.

We thank all of our partners for their support to our customers over the last three weeks.

We’ll continue to support customers in the new year, as repairs get underway and we ensure everyone has a suitable home for the coming months.

Longer-term housing support

Published: 18/12/25 09:30

With customers temporary, short-term accommodation into January now in place, we are working to secure them a suitable place to call home for the coming months. Over half of those impacted are now set to move into temporary Selwood Housing accommodation. This figure will continue to rise as time progresses.

We are also meeting this week with customers in person to share information and to understand preferences and requirements around more permanent housing. Everyone’s situation is different and we will continue to work on a case-by-case basis with our customers. Essential items are also being returned to customers from their homes at Marigold Road.

Fire and Rescue Service report

Published: 08/12/25 16:35

We continue to focus our attention on supporting those customers who have been directly impacted by the incident at Marigold Road, whilst work progresses to assess the damage and to plan longer-term repairs.

Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported to us over the weekend that the fire at Marigold Road in Frome started accidentally. A candle was in use at the time. The report also confirmed that the building’s fire defences worked as they were expected to.

We are also here to support those living in the Edmund Park area. Please do contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Ongoing support for residents affected

Published: 05/12/25 16:00

We are continuing to support customers affected by Wednesday night’s fire at Edmund Park. All impacted customers were supported into temporary accommodation and have been provided with financial help for essentials such as food and clothing. We are in the process of arranging suitable longer-term housing where needed.

We are working closely with Somerset Council, Frome Town Council, Fair Frome and Frome Rotary Club to coordinate support for residents and the wider community. We are grateful for their partnership and help they are providing to residents during this difficult time.

Assessments of the building and the extent of the damage are ongoing. We will continue to keep impacted customers fully informed as soon as more information becomes available.

Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of those who have had to leave their homes and all residents affected. We will keep our website and Facebook page updated with the latest information about our response to this incident. If you have any questions or need support, you can contact Selwood Housing on 01225 715 715 or visit Frome Town Council’s reception. Our teams and community partners are here to help.

Update about the incident

Published: 05/12/25 08:35

On the evening of Wednesday 3 December, a fire broke out at one of our blocks of flats in Edmund Park, Frome. We are thankful that all residents were able to evacuate safely, but we understand this incident will have been distressing for those involved and residents nearby. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted.

Our teams were on site alongside emergency services on the night of the fire and returned yesterday to answer questions and offer support to any residents affected.

Customers in nine flats have had to move out of their homes as a result of the fire. We supported these customers into temporary accommodation on the night and are continuing to work closely with them to provide the help they need and arrange suitable longer-term housing where required.

Once we can gain access to the building, our teams will establish the extent of the damage and assess the building’s safety. Regular updates will be provided to the customers affected.

We extend our thanks to the Dorset & Wiltshire and Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Services for their swift and professional response on the night. We would also like to thank the ambulance service for attending to one of our customers affected by smoke inhalation. We wish them a speedy recovery. We are also grateful to Wales & West Utilities for promptly isolating the gas supply to prevent any further harm.

We are doing everything we can to support our customers affected by this fire and our priority is their safety and wellbeing during this challenging time. Residents with any questions or concerns are encouraged to contact us.
