Wiltshire Search and Rescue is a volunteer specialist team dedicated to locating high-risk vulnerable and missing individuals across Wiltshire and nearby areas, operating 24/7 all year-round. The team is trained to work in diverse terrains—including remote, urban, and aquatic environments—and includes specialised units such as drone, bike, water, steep ground, search dogs, and casualty care. Volunteers meet UK Lowland Rescue National Standards and collaborate closely with emergency services and neighbouring rescue teams to ensure rapid and effective response in search operations.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue recently applied for funding from the Stronger Communities Fund and were thrilled to have received a grant which enabled them to purchase a vital replacement generator for their equipment support unit.

A Wiltshire Search and Rescue chairperson said:
“We are extremely grateful to Selwood Housing for the funding support for a replacement generator, this has enabled us to provide power to our equipment at the RV point. As we are rarely lucky enough to be deployed somewhere with an indoor facility to be utilised, ensuring that we can power our welfare tent facilities and lighting to enable safe working is vital. We can also utilise it to inflate our boat and sled for water rescue operations”.
The new generator has now been fitted into their new equipment support unit, enabling it to be transported safely and securely to call outs. You can find out more about Wiltshire Search and Rescue and the new support unit on their Facebook page.
