As a shared owner who has purchased a shared ownership home with Selwood Housing, you have joint rights and responsibilities for your home with us which are set out in your lease.
For shared owners we will:
- Ensure that information relating to services to shared owners is provided on our website.
- Ensure that adequate buildings insurance is in place.
- Ensure our teams are knowledgeable and competent in order to deliver a professional and friendly service to you.
- Acknowledge your queries within two working days.
- Respond to permission requests to make alterations to your homes once we have received full details of your proposals within 28 days. If a visit is required by one of our surveyors, this time may be extended.
- Provide clear information regarding fees which may be applicable for services.
- Provide opportunities for you to get involved with our service.
- Update you and consult with you if there are major issues which affect your lease.
- Ensure that when you purchase your shared ownership home (new build and resale) you receive clear information about shared ownership with Selwood Housing.
- Offer support and money advice if you fall into difficulties paying your rent and service charge.
To help deliver these standards, we ask our shared owners to:
- Keep to the terms and conditions of your lease.
- Pay the rent, service charges (including buildings insurance) and the cost of any shared repairs (if applicable).
- Take out adequate and appropriate home contents insurance.
- Request permission from us to sublet.
- Request permission to carry out alterations to your property if required by your lease.
- Carry out regular servicing of gas appliances and heating systems in your home by a qualified professional.
