Dorothy House has successfully launched its Coffee Connections group in Trowbridge, thanks to generous funding from Selwood Housing’s stronger communities fund. This innovative support group, open to anyone aged 18 and over affected by a life-limiting illness, has quickly become a beacon of hope and connection for the local community.
Meeting weekly in an accessible venue with excellent transport links, Coffee Connections offers a welcoming, informal space where people can share experiences, find support, and build friendships. The group is free to attend and is run by dedicated staff and trained volunteers, ensuring everyone feels included and supported.
The new group has already helped to reduce isolation and loneliness, increased resilience, and improved overall wellbeing. One of the most significant achievements is that people in Trowbridge no longer need to travel to access this kind of support.
Feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Attendees describe the group as “always welcoming, very friendly and supportive” and appreciate the “pleasant, informal and friendly conversation time.” These testimonials highlight the real difference Coffee Connections is making in people’s lives.
A spokesperson for Dorothy House shared:
“The application process for the stronger communities fund was easy to navigate, and the form allowed us to detail exactly what we wanted to achieve. With thanks to Selwood Housing’s funding, the Trowbridge group was made possible and will now become a permanent fixture.”
The Coffee Connection group is held at the Tesco Community Room in Trowbridge on the first and last Friday of the month from 1pm – 3pm. For further details, you can visit their website: Coffee Connection – Trowbridge – Dorothy House.
