The young people who turn to Amber are facing complex and interlinked challenges. Homelessness and unemployment are often just the tip of the iceberg and indicative of deeper problems including mental health issues, addiction and neglect and trauma in childhood.
Amber provides supported housing which is a little bit different with young people getting far more than just somewhere to live plus a few hours of support a week. Our approach pairs care, encouragement and compassion with structure and expectations to help build confidence, resilience and motivation.
Every young person that stays at Amber has their own individual support plan and takes part in our programme which covers employability, independent living, health and wellbeing alongside new experiences and opportunities.
The funding from Selwood Housing will support our programme at our Wiltshire centre, Bythesea Lodge, directly supporting young people from Trowbridge.
Over half of the money we need to help young people turn their lives around comes from our generous supporters and communities so we are so grateful to the Selwood Housing Stronger Communities Fund. This funding will go towards our programme at Bythesea Lodge, our supported housing centre in Trowbridge directly helping young people from the town.
