Local children have their say naming new development

We are excited to announce that with the help of students at Studley Green primary school, the development on the old John Bull site will be named 'Platinum Court'.

Back in June, we reached out to Studley Green Primary School to involve the children in naming the site. The excited students were asked to think of name ideas, eventually voting for the top three names. The final decision was made by Trowbridge Town Council and Wiltshire Council.

We also invited the school students to attend a site inspection to see the progress and have plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

A Studley Green Primary School councillor said

I feel excited to see the place we named and can't wait to see it when it's complete.

Paul Walsh, group development director said

I really want to thank the children on the school council and the staff for making the time to come up with a great name and for taking the time to come to see our site. The project team, site team and I really enjoyed showing the school council around and answering their excellent questions about the new homes.

Platinum Court will include six homes for affordable social rent and three for shared ownership, which offers a more affordable way of getting onto the housing ladder. The development received £648K part-funding from Homes England. It will help provide much needed affordable homes within the Trowbridge Community area, which currently has over 500 households on the Wiltshire Council Housing Register.
