On the evening of Saturday 18 April, a fire broke out at one of our properties, impacting two flats on the corner of Sangster Avenue and Milton Road in Melksham. Both households were able to evacuate safely. We appreciate the shock of such an incident for those impacted and the surrounding community. Our teams’ thoughts and actions right now are to provide necessary support.
Our colleagues attended the fire alongside the emergency services, to secure overnight accommodation where needed. We’d like to thank the work of the local emergency services and utility providers for their swift response to the incident and for supporting us to secure the building and make the area safe.
We’re aware there has been speculation about the cause of the fire. The fire service investigation has now confirmed that the fire was accidental and not due to an electrical fault.
Our teams are focussed on supporting our customers impacted into temporary accommodation, whilst we establish the extent of the damage to the building and plan next steps.
