Kensington Fields in Studley Green was the perfect location for the community to gather and enjoy a family fun day and garden makeover on Sun 18 September.
Selwood Housing's priority neighbourhoods team organised the events in response to customer requests in our Customer Conversation 2021 survey.
We're pleased that so many local people came along to show support and join the fun.
Families were delighted to find plenty to entertain the kids. The bouncy castle didn't have a still moment, and the face painters did a brilliant job keeping up with demand – Spiderman masks proved popular! A giant Jenga and multicoloured puzzles kept the toddlers busy.
Active Trowbridge brought along their inflatable Beat the Goalie penalty shootout challenge, plus some free coaching! And Starry Eyes Talent Show provided a lively soundtrack as budding popstars young and old took to the stage.
Community Garden Makeover
At the same time, our second community event had also burst into life just around the corner. The Kingswood Chase community garden enjoyed a ‘makeover' with the help of the Selwood Housing team, Trowbridge Future and community volunteers who planted, painted and had a lot of green-fingered fun!
Selwood Housing resident Mark Walker has been developing the garden for over 20 years. With funding support from Selwood Housing, Trowbridge Future now hopes to make the space available to the wider community and build on Mark's hard work. The new look garden should certainly encourage more volunteers to join the weekly ‘grow for it' gardening club.
