Our people are our most valuable asset. They not only deliver essential services, but they build relationships, they live in and know our communities, they innovate, and they keep our customers safe.
Investors in People provides us with a way to measure how we are supporting and developing our people and to ensure we continually develop and innovate in this area in line with our business strategy.
Our chief executive Barry Hughes said “We know that investing in our people and giving staff the opportunity to fulfil their potential means we will deliver excellent services to our customers."
We were assessed against the Investors in People framework in October 2021. The procedure comprised discussion with our executive team about our ambition and processes, an online survey completed by over 80% of staff and in-depth interviews with people from different teams.
We increased our 2018 survey score on every indicator, with 'living our values' and 'creating sustainable success' coming out top.

Everyone we spoke to enjoyed working for Selwood and said that you are a great employer. People have a lot of confidence in your leadership and are positive about the future. Most people feel trusted, they feel involved, and they feel their individual needs are appreciated and supported. You want to enable people to deliver great service through clear policies and procedures, and by providing opportunities for them to develop their skills, knowledge and professional capabilities.
We will use the feedback in the Investors in People report to build further on the areas we are doing well in and to make improvements where needed.
When it comes to our next assessment in 2024, we aim to achieve platinum accreditation - the highest level possible.
