A welcoming culture where you can contribute your best work and make a real difference
There’s lots of great reasons to join the team – our 30 year history and strong values, solid financial resources, Investors in People Gold accreditation, recent IT investment, flexible working opportunities, plus we’re dynamic, growing and investing in transformational change.
But most importantly, knowing that you’re making a great difference to others in our local community, who without our support may otherwise be homeless.
Having an inclusive workplace and valuing people’s differences is very important to us. It creates a positive working atmosphere, helps us achieve more, make informed decisions and also better understand the customers we support. A diversity group meets regularly to discuss issues, inform our approaches and creates ideas on how we can continue to raise awareness.
We are a disability confident employer and guarantee an interview to any disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the job. Please let us know if you need any adjustments making to attend an interview, and we’ll support you.
Don't just take our word for it; here's what our employees said in our Investors in People gold report.
Our group values and behaviours connect all staff and shape our culture. Chosen by employee, they are used to demonstrate how our
contributions make a difference and support us to provide
positive feedback to each other, especially as part of our living the values awards!
By focusing on our customers, we are able to provide a high quality service.
As 'One team' we consider others, working together to achieve a common goal.
By being honest we can fix issues before they become problems.
We find new ways of doing things, and find solutions to existing or potential problems.

Flexible working isn’t just an occasional benefit here, it’s a way of working.
Employees can build flexibility into their working week, to encourage a good work-life balance. We just encourage good communication within teams to ensure work is still delivered and customers still receive a great service.
The technology we use supports us to be able to work from most locations, with a good internet connection!

We encourage all our colleagues to be open and share their views, suggestions and experiences of working at Selwood Housing. This open communication informs our direction and helps us to embed positive changes. We have a range of channels to support this, including:
Selwood Housing proudly signed the Armed Forces Covenant, pledging a firm commitment to service personnel, veterans, and their families in its communities and homes across Wiltshire, Bath & North East Somerset, and Mendip.
We’re also committed to recognising and supporting carers and we know it’s vital that the social housing sector shares this commitment, which is why we signed up to Harry’s Pledge.
With the introduction of flexible working, and to support our value of 'one team' employees can and do work from both of our office locations, where this supports their job role. They may also spend time working remotely or from home.
Our employees work hard and sometimes in challenging circumstances.
So it’s important to have some balance – whether it’s supporting our Selwood Spirit charity of the year through cake bakes and other events, helping out the local community through our own ‘DIY SOS’ initiative, or just having some fun through our Christmas decs challenge – we’re a fairly lively, creative, socially-minded (and quite competitive!) bunch.
We have a ‘Selwood social’ Teams channel where employees share their interests, hobbies, fund-raising activities and photos.
We also come together once a year as a whole group, for our staff event, which includes our annual shine draw and living the values awards, as voted for by employees.
