Our homes standard

Meeting our Selwood Homes Standard

We developed this standard with you, and we will achieve it by:

  • monitoring the condition of our properties. Our surveyors complete a future major maintenance works survey for each home once every five years
  • carrying out a programme of work to make sure that all homes meet our Selwood Homes Standard whilst achieving good value for money.

What was expected from the decent homes standard?

A decent home is wind and weather tight, warm and has modern facilities. A decent home must meet the current statutory minimum standard for housing, be in a reasonable state of repair, have reasonably modern facilities and services and provide a reasonable degree of thermal comfort.

We aim to make sure all our our properties meet this decent homes standard, as well as our own Selwood Homes Standard, which goes beyond this measure. For more information read our Selwood Homes Standard guide.

Every three years we send our customers an in-depth survey asking how best to involve them. Our customers' views matter to us and we want to make sure that they can help us to shape and improve our services. Customers will have been sent a link via email to our online survey, which will be open until the 22nd October. Questions cover your home, neighbourhood, communication, opportunities to get involved and complaints. If you haven't received the survey, please contact makeadifference@selwoodhousing.com with your details. We can then determine whether you should have received an email link or a postal copy. ...
