Trowbridge Future Community Hub has relocated to its new home in The Shires Shopping Centre. The new venue has a lot more space, including a private booth for appointments, comfy sofas, craft provision, and a new much-needed office for staff. It has been purpose-designed to host daily sessions, including the Kindness Café, Craft Group, and English Lessons.
Trowbridge Future is a local charity that aims to develop the skills and capacities of the residents in disadvantaged communities in Trowbridge and surrounding villages. They provide people with opportunities to come together and build strong relationships, helping them to feel better about where they live and supporting them to improve their community and the things that matter to them.
The Mayor of Trowbridge, Cllr Stephen Cooper, who chose Trowbridge Future as one of his Charities of the Year for this year, cut the ribbon!
Cllr Cooper said: “I'm incredibly proud to have been in some small way associated with Trowbridge Futures’ contribution to our town's wellbeing and yes, our town's future.
The opening of this new, larger and better-equipped hub here in The Shires will mean that the constructive and forward-looking services Trowbridge Future offers to residents will now be more accessible and open to more people.”
Zoe Meaden, Community Manager, said: “The opening of this larger unit has given us a new lease of life and a greater capacity to support more people.
We are really grateful for the continuing support of Selwood Housing to enable us to reach a wide range of local residents offering support and signposting around housing and other support needs. This new space would not have been possible to open without the help from Selwood Housing, The Nationwide Foundation and The National Lottery Community Fund. We are so grateful for the support we have received from these funds!”
The Community Hub is open Monday to Wednesday, 10am-2pm, and Thursday, 10am-1pm for all as a space for support, signposting, 1-to-1 advice sessions, guidance on using other services, and information about local provisions.
