The Splash October activities programme

The Splash October activities programme is now open for referrals.

Splash will again be providing a free central minibus pick up to every activity, simply state on the referral form if transport is required and from which pick up point.

Anyone can refer a young person to Splash. To do this, please visit the Community First website.

If you need help and guidance to complete the form, please contact Splash on 01380 732 829 Monday - Friday.

Farrington's Pumpkin Festival

Back again for the 4th year, come along to Farrington's Pumpkin Festival taking place from 12 - 31 October and pick your own pumpkin!

It's free entry into the pumpkin fields, just pay for what you pick.

Alongside the pumpkin picking, there will be an array of other activities on throughout the month:

12 & 13 October - pick your own pumpkin. For the full experience, purchase the Pumpkin Activity Pass (£4) and join in with pumpkin carving, a tractor trailer ride around the farm, Spookley story time, a Spookley Movie and The School of Spooky Stuff where you make monster costumes or yucky potions with the team from the Super Pirates.

17 October - this is the SEN pumpkin picking day and is a ticketed event. Please only buy tickets for this day if you or your children have special educational needs. Tickets can be purchased from the Farrington Farm Shop website.

24 October - pumpkin night glow from 7pm! Come and pick a pumpkin, carve and add it to the giant pumpkin tower to light the nights sky. Tickets can be purchased from the Farrington Farm Shop website.

Black History Month

Come along to an afternoon of drumming, music, dance, workshops and Caribbean lunch at Bethesda Baptist Church in Trowbridge, to celebrate Black History Month.

Taking place on Saturday October 12 from 12pm, this event is free and funded by West Wilts Multi Faith Forum and Selwood Housing.

Bowood's Enchanted Autumn

Join the team at Bowood House & Gardens this autumn and discover the spooky goings on.

An evil witch has caused mischief and mayhem, putting Bowood under a spell that is haunting the whole estate! Help Bowood reverse the spell and bid farewell to the ghosts and ghouls.

Follow the scarecrow trail through Bowood's arboretum, children can immerse themselves in a series of challenges and autumnal activities that will lead them to discover the missing word to break the witches spell.

Experience breathtaking autumnal colours as you explore the grounds. Awash with crisp oranges and deep red hues, it's worth wrapping up warm for.

Normal House & Garden admissions apply.

Taking place from 23 October - 1 November, from 11am to 4pm each day.

Fright Fest, Melksham

Join Neston Farm Shop & Kitchen for a fun filled day of creepy crafts, petrifying story telling, pick your own pumpkin field and ghastly pumpkin carving, frightening face painting, bloodcurdling bouncy castles, ghoulish games and the spooky woodland trail.

Entry is free, but some activities will have a small charge.

Taking place on Saturday 26 October from 10am - 4pm.

Halloween at Wookey Hole

The home of Halloween opens its doors once again for spooky fun throughout the autumn half term. Costume characters will be on site including Wookey Hole's very own Witch who will be giving a free treat to every child.

Come dressed as your favourite Halloween character and you could win a prize at the end of the 3pm Halloween Circus Show. There will also be Circus Workshops so you can have a go yourself (please note, workshops and shows operate on alternative selective dates.)

A spooky cave tour is included in your visit - enter if you dare!

Toy Library Fun

Join Frome Children's Festival and Fair Frome on Tuesday 29 October for fun with a large range of toys, games and books.

Taking place from 9.30am - 2.15pm at Vallis School in Frome, why not become a member and borrow some toys whilst you are there?

This event is aimed at pre-school children, but older siblings are welcome.

Please note, lunch is not included in this event.

All sessions are drop in so no need to book. There is a charge of £1 per child for each activity.

Martial Arts Tasters

Join Frome Children's Festival and Fair Frome on Wednesday 30 October and try out different styles of martial arts.

Taking place from 10am - 12pm at Christ Church School in Frome, this activity can be adapted to accommodate your child's needs and abilities.

Stay for lunch after the activity, provided by Fair Frome. Lunch is free for families who receive benefits or have a low income. Suggested donation of £2 is welcome for others who would like to enjoy lunch.

All sessions are drop in so no need to book. There is a charge of £1 per child for each activity.

Silk Painting Workshop

Join Frome Children's Festival and Fair Frome on Thursday 31 October in making greetings cards using silk painting techniques. Have fun learning a new and fascinating skill.

Pleases are limited, so please get there early to avoid disappointment.

Taking place from 10am - 12pm at Holy Trinity Church Hall in Frome, followed by lunch. Food is free for families who receive benefits or have a low income. Suggested donation of £2 is welcome for others who would like to enjoy lunch.

Green Fingers

Join Frome Children's Festival and Fair Frome on Friday 1 November by helping make the park look even prettier by planting new trees and spring flowering bulbs.

Taking place from 10am - 12pm at New Road playground in Frome, followed by lunch. Food is free for families who receive benefits or have a low income. Suggested donation of £2 is welcome for others who would like to enjoy lunch.

Reoccurring events

Learn to DJ, Trowbridge

Trowbridge Community Area Future (TCAF) hold youth clubs every Tuesday from 7pm to 8.30pm and every Friday from 3.30pm to 5pm at Longfield Community Centre.

Nina from LoVe Sounds Music will be at the Tuesday sessions until October half term (except 15th October), offering free DJ lessons.

No need to register in advance, just turn up with a parent or carer to sign a consent form.

Walking netball, Trowbridge

Walking netball is a slower version of the traditional game, designed for anyone looking to exercise in a relaxed, supportive and friendly environment. Walking netball is suitable for adults of any ability.

Starting on Monday 23 September, walking netball will take place every Monday from 9.30 - 10.30am at Studley Green Community Centre in Trowbridge.

Walking netball is a low cost way to keep fit, at £1 per session.

Nature Trail at Fairwood Lakes, Dilton Marsh

Visit the new nature trail at Fairwood Lakes Holiday Park in Dilton Marsh!

Open daily, this is a fun outdoor activity for the whole family! Wander amongst the beautiful lakes and woods, and complete the nature themed rubbings along the way.

Entry price is £3.95, which includes a lovely factual nature booklet, crayons to complete the rubbings and a little gift at the end of the trail.

Open 9am - 5pm on weekdays/Saturdays and from 10am - 4pm on Sundays.

Healthy Me, Wiltshire

Healthy Me is a fun, healthy lifestyle journey for children aged seven to 11 and their families. The programme is designed to support children and young people to achieve a healthy weight. These may be children who have little knowledge around healthy eating, struggle with their self-esteem or struggle to take part in physical activities.

Healthy Me runs in four different locations:

Mondays from 4:15 - 5:45pm at Longfield Community Hall, Trowbridge.

Tuesdays from 4:15 - 5:45pm at The Olympiad, Chippenham.

Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6pm at Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre, Salisbury.

Thursdays from 4:15 - 5:45pm at Devizes Leisure Centre.

Wiltshire Mind evening support group, Melksham

Wiltshire Mind, a local mental health charity, are holding evening groups to support those, primarily who are in work, who feel stressed, depressed, lacking in confidence or just in need of mental health support.

The weekly group will offer support, information and signposting to other services as well as friendship.

The meetings are held at the Wiltshire Mind office in Melksham High Street, from 6-8pm every Tuesday evening.

There is no need to book for this event.
