Win tickets to the Town Hall Arts outdoor cinema

In partnership with Town Hall Arts, Selwood Housing Group are offering 15 customers the chance to win two tickets each to see the sold out screening of The Greatest Showman.

To be in with the chance to win, all you have to do is visit the Selwood Housing Group Facebook page, then complete the following steps:

-follow the page
-like the competition post
-correctly answer the question in the post, within the comments field.

All Selwood Housing customers, who complete the above steps by Wednesday 22 August, will be put through to a draw.

Winners will be contacted and announced on Thursday 23 August.

Winners will be requested to collect tickets from Selwood Housing by Wednesday 29 August.

Fit and Fed, Trowbridge

Fit and Fed is back for another summer of fun and food.

Come along to the Fit and Fed programme held at Studley Green Primary School, Trowbridge on Thursday 23 August from 11am until 2pm.

Parents and children can get involved in preparing and cooking a healthy hot meal, hear advice on healthy eating and take part in fun games and multi-sports activities.

Parents must attend alongside their children, this event is open to anyone ages five years and over.

Family fun days, Westbury and Dilton Marsh

Come along to one of the up and coming family fun days in August:

Wednesday 15 August, The Playing Fields, Dilton Marsh
Wednesday 29 August, Oldfield Park, Westbury.

Taking place from 1-4pm, families are invited to take part in face painting, craft activities, games, bouncy castle and much more.

Refreshments are available on the day.

In the event of wet weather, the events will take place in the Holy Trinity Church in Dilton Marsh on the 15 August, and Westbury Methodist Church on the 29 August.

Special film club, Melksham

Bring the family to see the Disney Pixar film, COCO, at the Melksham Assembly Hall on Monday 20 August at 1.30pm.

All school age children, parents, grandparents and guardians are welcome.

What's more, children can get in to the party spirit by dressing up in fancy dress or as clowns to be in for the chance of winning a fancy dress competition. To register your child for the competition, please visit the Melksham Tourist Information Centre by Thursday 16 August.

This event is at no charge, however those attending are asked to provide a donation.

September news and events

Afternoon tea and dancing with Raggle Taggle, Trowbridge

Celebrating Age Wiltshire have announced their latest event; Afternoon tea and dancing with Raggle Taggle: gypsy folk band.

Come along for an afternoon of music, dancing, tea, cake and friendship, with the local Raggle Taggle.

Held at the Studley Green Community Centre on Wednesday 12 September, from 2-4pm.

This is a free event, however please book your space by calling Rebecca on 07955 249 288.

Film Club, Melksham

Come along to the Melksham & District Seniors 55+ Forum Film Club at the Melksham Assembly Hall on Monday 17 September. September's film is 'Finding Your Feet', a five star feel-good British comedy film.

Doors open at 1.30pm with the film to start at 2pm.

This event is at no charge, however those attending are asked to provide a donation.

Circle Dancing, Hilmarton

Join Celebrating Age Wiltshire on Thursday 27 September at the Smile Group, for Cicle Dancing, tea and cake.

Circle Dancing draws on traditions from around the world and are adapted for both those standing and seated. All abilities are welcome. 

Held at the Hilmarton Village Hall from 10am-12pm, this event costs £1 which includes tea and cake.

Reoccurring events

Under 16's swim for free, Wiltshire

Free swimming will be available for under 16's during specific sessions throughout all Wiltshire school holidays.

The dates in 2018/19 that free swimming will apply are:

26 July - 2 September 2018
25 October - 2 November 2018
24 December 2018 - 4 January 2019
18 February - 22 February 2019

Please note, pools are closed on bank holidays and only one free swim per day is allowed.

All under 16's need to apply for a free swim membership card. Application forms can be collected from Wiltshire Council swimming pools, Places for people leisure pools or downloaded from the Wiltshire Council website.

Sports Roadshow, Melksham

Melksham Town Council are delighted to present the Sports Roadshow held every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the school holidays (31 July - 30 August).

The Roadshow will commence from 11am-2pm and visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of free activities each week, including assault cources, bouncy castles, Playzone and slides.

Sports include football, tri golf, netball, hockey and lots more.

The event will take place at the King George V Playing Field, Melksham, SN12 6LP and there is no need to book.

Melksham Seniors social club

Melksham & District Seniors 55+ forum weekly activity & social club is held at the Riverside Club, every Thursday from 10.30am-12.30pm.

On alternative weeks, the forum hold a happy 'Sing-a-long' or a movement to music activity to help those attending improve their balance. It is also a great opportunity for a good natter with others over refreshments and followed by other fun activities.

Wiltshire Mind evening support group, Melksham

Wiltshire Mind, a local mental health charity, are holding evening groups to support those, primarily who are in work, who feel stressed, depressed, lacking in confidence or just in need of mental health support.

The weekly group will offer support, information and signposting to other services as well as friendship.

The meetings are held at the Wiltshire Mind office in Melksham High Street, from 6-8pm every Tuesday evening.

There is no need to book for this event.

Drop-in Saturday Social, Trowbridge

Wiltshire Council are pleased to announce their drop-in Saturday social, aimed at over 50's.

These social events occur every third Saturday of the month, from 9.30am-12.30pm, at Tesco Community Room, Trowbridge.

Don't sit at home alone, drop in for tea, cake, good company and fun activities.

Some transport can be arranged.
